FAQ
Questions growers ask us
Data and privacy
Who owns the data collected on my farm?
You do. Field data is stored in private cloud storage kept for your farm, and Hexilia never sells it. You can export it when you need it, and if you leave, we return or delete it as you ask.
Who can see my fields in the apps?
Only the people you invite. Access is given per user and per role, so an agronomist can see the fields they advise on without seeing everything else.
How is the data protected?
Data travels over a secured connection (TLS 1.3) and is stored encrypted (AES-256) in the EU. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.
Connectivity
What if there is no mobile coverage in my fields?
Sensors talk to a field gateway over a long-range radio link, so only the gateway needs a connection. It needs coverage at one point on the farm, or a site where we can install a long-range link.
Do the devices need mains power?
No. Soil probes and the weather station run on batteries charged by small solar panels. Pump and valve controllers use the power already available at the pump.
What happens if the connection drops?
Devices keep measuring and store their readings, then send them when the connection returns, so there are no gaps in your history.
Installation
How long does installation take?
It depends on the size of the farm and the number of devices. A typical farm is installed in one to three days after the site visit, without stopping your work.
Does it work with my existing irrigation?
In most cases, yes. We add controllers to the pumps and valves you already have, and we check compatibility during the site visit.
Apps
What can I do in the web and mobile apps?
Follow every field in real time, turn pumps and valves on or off, set schedules and moisture thresholds, receive alerts and read reports on water use, crop health and field history.
Which languages are the apps in?
The apps are available in English, French and Arabic. Tell us if your team needs another language.
Pricing
What are the two Hexilia offers?
Hexilia Farm Complete includes the hardware and the software: we supply and install the soil probes, the weather station, the field gateway and the irrigation controllers, and set up the platform. Hexilia Farm Software is for farms that already have equipment: after a compatibility check, we connect your existing sensors and controllers to the platform. Both include the web and mobile apps, alerts, reports, private cloud storage, training and support. Compare the offers.
We already have sensors and controllers. Can we use Hexilia?
Yes, with Hexilia Farm Software. We first check that your sensors, weather station, gateway and irrigation controllers can be connected, then link them to the Hexilia platform. If some equipment isn't compatible, we tell you which parts and suggest options.
How much does Hexilia cost?
The price depends on the offer (Hexilia Farm Complete or Hexilia Farm Software), the number of devices and the services you choose, so we quote each farm after the site visit or the compatibility check. The estimator gives a first idea of the equipment a farm like yours needs.
Can we start small?
Yes. Many farms start with one or two irrigation blocks, compare them with the rest of the farm for a season, and extend from there.
Can we start with Software and add hardware later?
Yes. You can start with Hexilia Farm Software on the equipment you have and add Hexilia probes, a weather station or controllers later, field by field. Your data and history stay in the same account.
Crops
Which crops does Hexilia support?
Any irrigated crop. We have worked most with olives, citrus, date palms, vegetables and cereals; see the crop pages for what we focus on in each.
Does it work in greenhouses?
Soil probes, irrigation control and the apps work the same under cover. Drones are for open fields; tell us about your setup and we'll advise.
